Usage Guide

Dosing Instructions:

1. Preparation: Remove all invertebrates and any chemical filtration from the tank.
2. Primary Treatment: Add 5 mL of ParaGuard for every 40 L (10 US gallons) of water. Repeat daily as needed, monitoring for any signs of fish stress.
3. Medicated Dip: For a 1-hour dip, mix 3 mL of ParaGuard per 4 L (1 US gallon) in a separate container. Dips can be extended if fish show no signs of stress.

Quarantine Procedures:

• Set up a quarantine tank to monitor and medicate new fish prior to introducing them to your main tank.
• Use ParaGuard prophylactically (without visible symptoms) if desired. A treatment period of 2 weeks is generally recommended to clear potential infections.

Sensitive Fish Care:

• Start with a partial dose for sensitive species and gradually increase to the full dose over several days.

Note: ParaGuard is not recommended for use in reef aquaria. For reef systems, consider using Seachem’s MetroPlex as an alternative.

Indications

Common Treatable Infections:

• Ich (Ichthyophthirius/Cryptocaryon): Treat for 14 days in freshwater or up to 28 days in saltwater.
• Velvet (Piscinoodinium/Amyloodinium): Suggested treatment for 14-21 days; consider turning off lights during treatment.
• Fin Rot: Treat for 7 days or until cleared; often a secondary infection requiring attention to the primary cause.
• Flukes (Dactylogyrus/Monogenenean trematodes): Recommended treatment period of 14 days or until cleared, with the entire tank needing treatment.
